GRANDMASTER AIMS TO BRING HOME THE TITLE

Chess Grandmaster and UK born, Keith Arkell, announced this week he will be attending the MSA 4th World Championships to be held at Doha, Qatar this August.

Keith will be taking part in the various chess tournaments over the week, with the aim to take home one of the titles.

Learning chess moves since the age of 13 it wasn’t until 1980 when Keith began playing professionally, reaching the Grandmaster title in 1995. He has shown consistency by winning 10 or more tournaments a year for nearly 40 years. Talking to MSA about the Championship Keith said, “My aim in Qatar at the MSA World Championships will be to perform to the best of my ability, and hopefully be able to at least bring home one of the titles.”
He continued, “I think it is also important to conduct oneself in a friendly and sporting manner throughout, in order to present chess in the best possible light. I am already looking forward with excitement to competing in this MSA World Championship, and making new friends in a part of the world which I have never visited before.”

Keith is a great ambassador for the sport coaching the next generation, MSA were thrilled at the news of Keith’s attendance.

The Chess Event will kick off with the Bug House and Blitz 3(+2) followed by the Main Championship, with Rapid and Blitz 5(+2) to round off the week.
