World Scrabble Championships 2018

Mattel would like to announce the World Scrabble Championships 2018 will be held on 20th – 28th October, the location will be the English Riviera, Torquay.



The Riviera International Conference Centre (ERC) – located in the heart of the English Riviera, Torquay, England.

This is a wonderful venue with good accommodation and plenty of extra activities available in the local area. (Links will be available on the website regarding cheaper accommodation and travel).

World Junior Scrabble Championships 2018 – Saturday 20th October to Monday 22nd October 2018

World Scrabble Championships 2018 – Tuesday 23rd October to Sunday 28th October 2018



Format will remain the same as 2017:

  • WJSC (up to 21 years old) open event; 24 games played over 3 days
  • WSC (all ages) open event; 35 games played over 4 days with top 8 playing in quarter finals followed by semi-finals, with the Grand Final (best of 5) played on the last Sunday.
  • Entry fees will mirror 2017 and an early bird will be announced in the next few days.


Pre-registration will commence in April.

Prize Pool will be a minimum of $20,000.
