Deck Of The Day #26 - Breaking Worlds And Mirrors Alike

Testing for Standard PPTQs UR Eldrazi is one of the most played decks in Magic Online because of its sheer power and its relatively low cost

UR Eldrazi is one of the most played decks in Magic Online because of its sheer power and its relatively low cost. It is based around Mage-Ring Network, allowing it to play a Draw-Go style and reducing the dependency on the green ramp spells and Shrine of the False Gods.

Because of so many people playing it, seeing versions of the deck specially engineered for the mirror was just a matter of time. This version made the top8 of an Asian WMCQ:

4 Corrupted Crossroads
4 Highland Lake
2 Lumbering Falls
4 Mage-Ring Network
1 Mountain
4 Shivan Reef
4 Yavimaya Coast
4 Wandering Fumarole
3 Drowner of Hope
2 Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
3 World Breaker
3 Anticipate
2 Chandra, Flamecaller
4 Clash of Wills
4 Hedron Archive
4 Kozilek's Return
4 Spatial Contortion
4 Spell Shrivel

Sideboard
2 Devour in Flames
2 Jace, Unraveler of Secrets
2 Negate
1 Pulse of Murasa
2 Roast
2 Goblin Dark-Dwellers
3 Though-Knot Seer
1 World Breaker

The plan of the deck is straight-forward. Having a Mage-Ring Network is crucial, because it allows us to keep our mana open and if our opponent doesn't make a play worth being countered, we add a counter. At some point we will be able to further ramp ourselves with Hedron Archive (playing it turn 5 lets us keep Spell Shrivel online) and then Ulamog seals the deal.

The key for the mirror is the green splash. It seems that World Breaker not only breaks Worlds but mirror-matches as well; exiling a Mage-Ring Network with some counters on it is back-breaking. Moreover, World Breaker gives us inevitability against the control and midrange decks, allowing us to go bigger than everyone.

The tri-color mana base doesn't allow for Shrine of the False Gods, but it seems a worthwhile Sacrifice. Will you test it for the remaining Standard Pre-PTQs and GPs?
