We've gone already through 3 weeks of the new Standard, and we can all agree that so far it has been one of the most varied and vibrant formats ever. However, there has been one question looming over everybody...

...

Where have all the red decks gone??

Small aggro red decks were usually leading the pack at the beginning of a new format. This time, however, there were impossible to find. Moreover: we had 8 different decks for the top 8 of #PTSOI and still no red decks to be found.

Until now. Check this beauty by MTGO user 'larkblue'

4 Exquisite Firecraft
4 Draconic Roar
3 Fiery Impulse
3 Titan's Strength
20 Mountain
1 Haven of the Spirit Dragon
1 Looming Spires
Sideboard
2 Goldnight Castigator
3 Scab-Clan Berserker
1 Magmatic Chasm
3 Roast
3 Rending Volley
3 Twin Bolt

It is hard to be aggro these days in Standard. There are plenty of 2/3 and 1/2 creatures, which makes attacking with small dorks a difficult task: the answer was, as usual, bigger creatures - evasive if possible. And this was the option chosen by Larkblue: to include some 4 drops and to go back to maybe the best burn spells in current Standard: Exquisite Firecraft & Draconic Roar. Maybe the dragon count is not that high as desired, but that Haven of the Spirit Dragon can count as an additional one while being an insurance against flooding.

Maybe it is not the red deck people want, but sure it is the red deck people need in order to win. Will you be brave enough to play it into the upcoming GP Manchester? You can register here.
